it means u need a new one n u cant fix it
this may sound dumb but was it a smell of electric fire or smell of food burning there is a vent that comes out the top on one the back burners if food had boiled over in oven it may be the cause
clean it good and try it
if was different smell like i mention the not food burn smell either have an appliance service person inspect it for functionality or just replace it
there is a couple switches and thermal sensors in the console either of which could of malfunctioned
without seeing it , pretty hard to tell, Could be electrical fault which means get a electrician or repair tradesman, could also be a mouse has attacked the insulation and blocked the exit vents. They love stoves and fridges. Would have to be opened to see. In my case it was the mouse.
When was the last time you operated the stove to clean cycle. The smell you have, is it burnt chicken or plastic/rubber smell. If it’s food odor then I would try the cleaning cycle and try not to cook the food too close to the heating elements
Ovens contain a “vent” that allows smoke to escape the oven cavity. Vents may be designed as part of the control panel but most usually are built to vent through a rear surface burner, typically the right rear. (Notice a hole about the size of a quarter under the burner?) The worst smoke comes from spillage of baked sticky items such as pie filling that boils over. Grease will usually dissipate rather quickly. Be sure to wipe out heavy spills as soon as you can and before a cleaning cycle to stop the fire alarm. Good Luck.
