I clean my oven once amonth with easy off and some hot water, and no getting oven cleaner on the elemeant want hurt just make sure to wipe them off really good after your thorugh cleaning.
Here’s a practically effortless way to clean an electric oven: First, turn the oven on, let it warm to 150°F (65°C), and then turn it off. Place a small bowl containing 1/2 cup ammonia on the top shelf and a large pan of boiling water on the bottom shelf. Close the oven door, and let it sit overnight. The next morning, remove the dish and pan, and let the oven air out awhile. Then wipe it clean using the ammonia and a few drops of dishwashing liquid diluted in a quart of warm water — even old burned-on grease should wipe right off. Warning: Do not use this cleaning method with a gas oven unless the pilot lights are out and the main gas lines are shut off.
Get the cooked-on grime off your oven racks by laying them out on an old towel in a large washtub. You can also use your bathtub, though you might need to clean it afterward. Fill the tub with warm water and add 1/2 cup ammonia. Let the racks soak for at least 15 minutes, then remove, rinse off, and wipe clean.
Check first to see if it is a self cleaning oven. If not then Easy-Off is the best I’ve ever found. It won’t hurt the heating elements because it is made to clean them. Just remember to wear rubber gloves and make sure the room is well ventilated, don’t let the kids or pets anywhere near it and the next time you turn the oven on you will get a funny smell for about the first 10 minutes, until all the chemicals are burnt off. By the way, next to dusting, this has to be my least favorite household chore.
My fave oven cleaner is the Easy Off Fumefree oven cleaner.
Tip: If you’re a renter, just tell your landlord that your oven is acting strange and a burner or two don’t work. You’ll most likely be given a new oven. I’ve done it before and it worked like a charm!
check to see if its self cleaning , if not ez off . Follow directions on the can. For tough spots, use a mix of comet, and a cleaner that cuts grease with a scrub pad.
