Most single ovens are the same size so if you are replacing an existing oven the new one will slide easily into the same cap.

Buying The Right Electric Double Oven For Your Needs

An electric double oven  is a great choice for many homes, Its increased cooking area and multi function facilities offer the user a range choice when cooking.
There is nothing as annoying when cooking a large meal and not having enough oven space, this caused food being cooked at different times.
They are a popular choice and depending on the model you get, some great energy savings can be made.

Double ovens  are fantastic if you do a lot of cooking and entertaining. They allow you to cook a greater amount of food. You can cook different foods at the same time and at different temperatures, or keep food warm while the rest of the food cooks. You normally get a grill in the second oven too.

Double cookers usually have a capacity of around 70 to 80 litres, the standing width is generally 60cm, but freestanding ovens can be as wide as 90c.
Don’t let wide models fool you into thinking more space, as they don’t always offer more internal space.
Its best to make sure there is enough room for around a 5cm gap around the oven to prevent anything getting damaged by the heat given off by the oven

Convectional or Fan Assisted Oven?

Usually in convectionals they have the thermostat controlling the heat in the middle, so its slightly hotter in the middle than other areas of the oven. They also need to be preheated.Fan assisted circulate the air around the ovens and food generally cooks faster in fan assisted ovens.

Energy Savings

New ovens come with energy ratings, so choose one with the highest rating, which will give you a little more on the energy saving side
Cost of ovens range from 0 to 00+

Cleaning

Ovens either come with catalytic liners, to absorb, catch and degrade food spills or are pyrolytic ovens that are designed to burn dirt and grease off at high temperatures in your electric double oven

Double ovens are (mostly?) too tall to fit into the space below a worktop. Even if it does then your electric supply will probably be unsuitable.

Single ovens are powered from a 13a outlet. Double ovens require 20a minimum (usually) and need to have their own circuit from the consumer unit (fuseboard).

Girlie says it all!

There are only a few brands of ‘Double’ ovens that will fit below a worktop, normally the plinth is ommited, as the unit sits on the floor.

This has been answered better than I would of done,Just check the dimensions of the new proposed appliance. You can seethem at any kitchen showroom. You MAY HAVE TO REMODEL THE KITCHEN to have this double oven fitted and possibly add some new electrics

unless you want to lay on the floor to see whats in the oven the answer is no. they are made to go in an oven housing unit.

If the space is wide enough no problemo, if not, you may as well look out for a handy paddle for the canoe you are setting sail in.
