Could a 30 amp breaker power an electric oven and a clothes dryer at the same time?

by admin on April 9, 2010

In my house there is an outlet for a dryer, but not one for the stove because it was gas and we converted. Would it be possible to split the cord and run two outlets from it for an electric oven and the dryer without overloading the breaker. Also would this be safe.

It could over load. Make sure the wire is the right size to carry the load.

Only if you are wanting to burn the house down. No way.

No. It is against The National Electrical Code. Plain and simple.
Fire hazard. Spend the money and have a pro install your new line for your stove. 40 amp double pole with #8 wire. #6 is better, more expensive, but safer. GL!

Not a good idea!
It may work for a while but you run the risk of burning supply cable, although should trip first.
They should have separate supplies, end of!!

well here is your problem every electric range that I have every wired for in a home is 50a not 30a so no you cant you need to have a dedicated circuit for the oven and more than likely you are going to need 50a 220v circuit with a neutral
